Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Climate Change and Sustainability is tailored for the Global South that addresses region-specific climate risks, policy needs, and sustainable practices using case studies from South Asia. It aims to develop an understanding of key issues at the policy-science interface of climate governance. This course also deals with political and socio-economic dimensions of climate governance which shape sustainable development goals and ecological outcomes. The teaching pedagogy of the course integrates class-room teaching with field visits which allows the students to go beyond the theoretical knowledge of the subject and exposes them to the implementation of local climate adaptation projects. Further, the core course is twined with technology-driven insights like GIS mapping for climate modelling and AI in sustainability, and other computer tools. Overall, the course will help in building a foundation in climate policy and governance that should help the students understand how national climate responses in global south are affected by climate actions of developed countries, guidelines and legal framework adopted under UNFCCC, regional agreements, and trade and finance considerations of these countries. The course will foster the understanding of shared challenges and that of benefits from stronger cooperation within global south and between global north and global south. The course is expected to give postgraduates an advantage in policy-oriented roles.

Two-Year Programme

A candidate must have passed a Bachelor’s degree following 12 years of schooling + a 3 years/ 4 years Bachelor's degree in any discipline from an institution recognized by the government of any of the SAARC countries, with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade.

Note: Vacant seats in one category will be transferred to another category.

• The duration of the Entrance Test will be 2 hours.
• The question paper will have multiple-choice questions only.
• Students will have to answer any 70 questions out of a total of 100 questions. Each question will carry one mark and there is NO negative marking

The syllabus for the entrance test comprises of issues of environmental problems and sustainable development. Multiple-choice questions will be asked to assess students' general knowledge and awareness of issues of topical importance in the afore-mentioned areas.
