Hostel Facilities
The university offers on-campus housing for bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral students. The new hostel residence offers around 800 units of partially furnished shared accommodation in twelve different towers. There are several common areas, such as study rooms, common rooms, and multipurpose rooms. We also have recreational areas such as a lounge for gatherings, a fitness centre for workouts, and playgrounds. Admitted students’ spouses/children or other family members are not provided with hostel accommodation. All students who stay in the hostel must strictly adhere to the hostel rules. The hostel fee for students from the SAARC region is US $100 per academic semester. Students must vacate the hostel as soon as their programme is completed and/or they are unable to continue their studies. During the summer and winter vacations, bachelor’s and master’s students must vacate their accommodation. According to the University Regulations, doctoral students will be provided with hostel facilities for a maximum of five years. The hostel facilities at SAU are limited, and allocation is strictly subject to availability. If hostel accommodation is not available, students must make their own arrangements. SAU will not provide any compensation in lieu of hostel accommodation under any circumstances for the duration of a student’s enrolment in the programme.
Mess charges will be extra and are likely to range from US$ 50 to 75 per month.
Hostel Policy
Hostel allotments for the regular Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Ph.D. students will be done after meeting the following eligibility criteria-
- The candidate’s parents should not be residents of the National Capital Region (NCR).
- Students from SAARC countries other than India will be given priority.
- All the selected students may not get hostel accommodation due to the limited availability of hostel rooms. Therefore, hostel accommodation will be offered only to eligible candidates, subject to his/her merit and availability of a seat in the SAU Hostel.
- Initially, a merit list is prepared by the SAU’s Admissions & Examinations division, which is further evaluated by the Hostel Administration.
- The Hostel Administration, consisting of the Associate Dean of Students, Boys’ Hostel Warden, Girls’ Hostel Wardens, and PRO-Student Support Services, interviews the eligible candidates. An equal weightage will be given to marks/CGPA/rank and the interview in the selection process.
- The Hostel Administration may also ask the applicants to submit a recent Character Certificate issued by his/her previous school/college/institution.
- Admission to a program does not guarantee hostel allotment on the SAU campus.
- All resident-students shall be required to submit a fresh application in each academic session.
