LLM (Master of Laws)

The LLM Programme lays emphasis on international law and is sensitive to the perspectives of the South Asian countries. Besides International Law, its other compulsory courses are Comparative Constitutional Law of South Asian countries, Jurisprudence and Legal Theory, Research Methods for Law. The Programme further offers such other important areas as International Trade Law, International Environmental Law, International Human Rights Law, International Criminal Law and Intellectual Property Law. Apart from traditional pedagogic methods, the Faculty adopts seminar methods and invites eminent law scholars from India and abroad to interact with faculty and students. The Programme is starting specializations in International Law, International Trade and Economic Law and International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law.

Eligibility

Two-Year Programme

A candidate must have passed a 5-year integrated BA/BBA/BSc/LLB degree or  a 2 or 3 or 4 year Bachelor’s degree with a 3 year LLB degree or a 4 year LLB degree  from a recognized institution or an examination recognized by the University as its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks (or an equivalent grade)

Format of the Entrance Test Paper

  • The duration of the Entrance Test will be 2 hours.
  • The question paper will consist of 70 multiple choice questions.
  • There will be no negative marking.

Syllabus for Entrance Test

  • Some questions will be based on general knowledge, political science, geography, general science and civics of the 10+2 level.
  • Some questions will be of the LLB level and will generally include the following areas:
    • Legal Methods of Law: Jurisprudence, Analytical School of Law, Pure Theory of Law, Sociological Jurisprudence, Legal Personality and Legal Rights, Ownership, Possession and Rule of Law.
    • Public International Law: Sources of International Law, Relation of International Law and Municipal Law, Principles of International Law; the Law of International Organizations.

International Trade Law: International Humanitarian Law, Intellectual Property Law, International Environment Law, International Human Rights Law.
